Need to relax ? The idea of staying in an old refrigerated truck trailer could then warm you up, transformed into a comfortable vacation rental.

Polish mobile hotel chain Good Spot operates four of these rentals – and is preparing to launch a new service, where customers vote online for where they’re settled.

While details have yet to be finalized, Good Spot plans to open the vote in January, with holidaymakers choosing between two intriguing landscapes – a lake and a seaside location in Poland.

Voting will initially take place on Good Spot’s social media, but as the hotel grows – they aim to add 50 trailers to their current list of four – their website will host the voting poll.

One potential location is a “mystery” lake – a reservoir created by a glacier – which “delights with its crystal-clear water unpolluted by exhaust fumes or sewage”.

It’s a great spot for fishing, according to Good Spot’s CFO, Roman Sokolowski. He says, “Even novice anglers can catch huge fish – bream, eels, pike and perch.”

The Good Spot trailers are themselves talking points.

The trailers were created by Polish design firm Znamy Sie, based in the city of Wrocław, who are delighted to have reused them.

They were created by Polish design firm Znamy Sie, based in the city of Wrocław, who are delighted to have reused them.

A statement from the agency, led by college friends Aleksandra Majdzik, Bogna Kawa and Wojciech Nowak, reads: “A large number of insulated refrigerated trailers withdrawn from the market are imported into our country every year. Poland thus becomes the cemetery of these disused trucks.

“By renovating a trailer, we give it a second life!

At the center of each trailer is a bathroom, where the ice blue color scheme reflects the history of the vehicle’s cold storage.

There is a kitchen and two bedrooms at each end – one double and one twin – as well as a small porch leading down to one side.

The design intends to “evoke nostalgic associations with trips to the mountains and to the sea”, according to Znamy Sie.

The biggest design challenge was to provide hotel style amenities in such a small space.

As for the reaction to the unusual structures, the design agency says people are “curious” when they see the trailers for the first time.

How does it feel to spend the night inside?

Poland has become

Poland has become “a graveyard of refrigerated caravans”

Znamy Sie says, “It’s definitely an interesting experience. It’s a bit associated with camping trips out of town. However, this is not a typical caravan, in terms of use it is no different from a small apartment. ‘

The hotel reviews speak for themselves.

One guest wrote after his stay: “An experience like no other. The caravan looks like a tiny hotel room, nothing is missing. We had just closed the beach season in Mrzezyno – we were close to the beach and food, and at the same time, peace, quiet and a forest environment like in a remote area. We will definitely be back, but this time we will throw ourselves into the mountain scenery. ‘

Another wrote: ‘It was the best stay in the mountains we have ever had. Thank you very much for such a beautiful place.

The company hopes to venture further in the years to come, establishing the mobile hotel in different countries and across a greater variety of landscapes.

The four caravans spent the summer of 2021 in Mrzezyno, a village on the Baltic Sea, before moving in September to Karpacz, a ski resort in the Karkonosze mountains.

The owners offer their sites for the hotel, generating income from the rental of the land. Good Spot studies each proposal, checking the area in terms of natural attractiveness, connections to power grids, and water and sewerage systems.

The concept behind the company came when its founders were on a kitesurfing trip to the seaside resort of Hel in Poland. By contemplating the landscape, they came up with the idea of a hotel that could “move around and stop in places that offer the best conditions and proximity to nature”.

Depending on the location, a hotel night costs from £ 36 ($ 50) to £ 109 ($ 150). For more information visit Znamy Sie and Good place. They are also found on Instagram Where Facebook.
