New dashboard maps affordable rentals by postal code

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – Residents looking for affordable housing in San Diego can find information about locations – such as their proximity to public transportation and schools – on a new online tool launched Monday by the San Diego Housing Commission.

The Affordable Housing Dashboard features a searchable zip code map and property-specific information, as well as a high-level overview of affordable housing across the city.

“This is an innovative resource that allows virtually anyone interested in affordable housing to access valuable information with the click of a computer mouse,” said President and CEO of SDHC, Richard Gentry. “This dashboard reflects the core values of the San Diego Housing Commission of serving clients with fairness, dignity and respect; our commitment to excellence and innovation; and our belief in transparency.

The Affordable Housing Dashboard is available on the SDHC website,, in the “Housing Opportunities” section under “Affordable Rentals”.

The dashboard landing page provides an overview of affordable housing. A drop-down menu allows the user to choose the data they want to see and even a Google Street View of each property. Users can view all of the city’s affordable housing units or just the 4,115 affordable rental units owned or managed by SDHC, including its non-profit subsidiary, Housing Development Partners.

Information is available on whether each property is served by a specific housing program, such as housing vouchers based on a federal project.
